1st day of School

Well, today is was the first day of school for Spencer. His second and last year at Miss Kim's preschool. It is hard to believe that next year he will be in Kindergarten.

He got to pick out his own backpack and is very excited to show it off. He had a great day and it is wonderful to be back into our routine.

I hate Apple

Well,

I guess the honeymoon is over.

At this moment. . . I hate Apple. My Mac has been my bosom buddy for 2 years and I have never been happier. Until today. . .

I have been trying to download videos to iMovie from our trip to China. I want to share some videos of Jacob walking and from our trip. My stupid iMovie is completely frozen. For the last 2 hours the program has been totally locked up. All is says is "Optimizing Movies" and will not allow me to do anything. . .not even click on the help button. I HATE THIS PIECE OF JUNK SOFTWARE.

So I tried my usual tricks (force quit, reboot, searched the support discussion boards on apple.com) and nothing is working. I even called Dave to see if he had any ideas. Nothing. . . So I waited it out, after two hours of waiting for it to finish I called apple support. I remember them telling us when we got the computer they offer free support. So I called.

RUDENESS is what I was greeted with.

I called and had to wade through a long menu of trouble shooting options. Finally a human was there to help me. She told me I no longer qualified for phone support. What? She said that phone support is only good for 90 days and as of Aug. 3 our 90 days was up. I told her this is the first time I have used iMovie since we got the new iMac. She said it was now a paid service if I wanted help. I told her that when we got the Mac they said we could get help any time. . . She said yes, at the store. If we want someone to help us, we have make an appointment with a trouble shooter at the downtown location, drag our 27 inch computer there and have someone answer our question. I was so livid.

I asked is she could offer any help, she said I could. . . force quit, reboot, searched the support discussion boards on apple.com. Worthless.

I was so mad. . . "So," I ask, "I the only way I can get help over the phone is to pay for a plan? Or I can make an appointment and drag my computer downtown?"

"Right"

I hung up on her. . . Apple is such a liar.

After the sealing

The Sealing

It has been 5 days since Jacob was sealed to us. I can't believe it has taken me so long to write about it, but it was so special and having family come made it even better.



We were sealed in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. This was our sealing room. It was so perfect. Jacob was all in white and the spirit was so sweet and powerful. Just knowing that Jacob is ours forever is so peaceful and . . . guiding.

There are lots of photos taken after the sealing on the temple grounds. It was a wonderful morning. I will post another "after the sealing" post soon. Lots of fun at our house that afternoon :)

The new normal

Just experiencing the new normal around here.

The boys are doing great. We are all getting excited about the temple tomorrow and making plans for the luncheon after. I went to the store today to stock up on the fixin's. I am just so happy the day is almost here. I still need to vacuum and spruce things up, one load of laundry and one load of dishes down,. . . I call that progress. And now instead of cleaning I am blogging. . . that tells you my level of desire.

The boys are both napping. Jacob is a wonderful napper, he just sleeps so well. Spencer is also having "quiet time." He had a fever earlier this week and has been fighting a bug, so he is sleeping instead of having some down time. It is great in the afternoon that I can have some time to work on my class when both the boys are down.

My South class starts next week on the 18th, so it has been good to have some "quiet time" to get my class ramped up. I have not taught at South since May, so having a few months off has been good for our family, but I am feeling a little rusty on the interface. It will all come back to me. It is a 6 week class.

Aug. 24 my Western class starts up, I am almost done prepping out that class too. I have about 24 students in that class, so it will be a busy semester. In October I pick up an 8 week class for Western. So the rest of the year will be busy. . . I think I need it. I always do better with more on my plate rather then less.

Just adjusting to the new normal. . . and it is pretty good.

Sunday

4 weeks. . . .tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since Jacob joined our family.

I am surprised at how well we have all been transitioning into our new family routine. We were expecting much more difficulty with sleeping with eating, we have had *zero* problems here. I am just amazed by that fact. He sleeps through the night and naps everyday. He eats more then Spencer does. Jacob is usually cheerful and quite curious about everything.

Jacob loves to follow Spencer around and Spencer seems pretty pleased to have an admirer. However, Spencer is regressing in some things. He will babble and do signs instead of talking or he will crawl instead of walk. I asked him why he was doing that since he can walk and talk. . .he told me, "For the attention." Spencer has always excelled at honesty.

This week is a big week for us. On Saturday, Aug. 13 Jacob will be sealed to our family in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It is hard to describe how powerful this experience is. When Spencer was sealed to us, the feeling was indescribable. I do have a testimony of temples, I feel so grateful that Dave, Spencer, Jacob and I will be a family forever. I love my family so dearly and the temple certainly adds clarity and an eternal perspective to that love.



Our family will be coming in from out of town and also from the area. After the sealing ceremony we will have everyone back to our house for a luncheon. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and of course Jacob will get to meet Grandma & Grandpa Bassett for the first time, and also some cousins and Aunts and Uncles.

It will be a busy and happy week. . . I can tell. :)

Good news from the doctor

We got great news from the orthopedic surgeon. Jacob's foot is looking great. The doc said the results are wonderful, that he would expect this progress and result if he had taken care of Jacob himself from birth.

We got a new brace with new shoes that snap into it. He will continue to wear them at night (10 hours). The usual brace treatment lasts until the child is 3 or 4.

Dr. Stotts asked to see us again in 6 months. We could not have hoped for better news! No additional treatment is needed.

We hope Jacob will be walking soon, he is getting close. The doctor said that he suspects he will be walking in the next 2 months.

He can already walk pushing a toy or holding 2 hands. The new brace will take some time to get used to, but it looks like we have a few years to get used to it.
